The Tire Shoppe & Auto Mechanic Repair Ferndale, MI Lexus tires FAQ's
Many of our customers ask us if the brand of tire that they select plays a role in their safety…
The answer is most definitely yes. Not simply because of a brand name, but because of the quality that is behind the brand. This contributes to your overall safety in more than one way. For example, a good set of tires will help with the smoothness of your drive, your acceleration and braking capabilities as well as minimizing road noise.
What type of questions will you ask me when I come in for a tire estimate?
We will firstly take a look at what type of vehicle you have, the make, year and model. We will ask you how many miles you typically drive in a years time? What type of driving you do, e.g., what style of driving you typically do (fast, slow driver etc.) What is your budget? What you are expecting to get out of your tires?
Any problems you may have had with your previous tires, e.g., the manufacturer, things you liked about it, and or did not like, the way the tires wore, etc.
Why is tire safety significant in my life?
First and foremost, general tire safety measures should be considered and implemented into every drivers life. Basic knowledge such as tire pressure, when to have your tires rotated and how many miles you should get out of your tires, are all factors to consider as a driver. It is not obsessive to have these things checked out on a regular basis, even if you do not notice any problems while driving.
Staying on top of these things can unfortunately mean life and death for many people. That is why we stress tire and mechanic safety to all of our customers. Unlike other shops, we will not sell you and ‘ole pair of tires just to gain a customer or sale. We value our customers and their safety at all times. That is why we also inspect the vehicle for potential problems that could affect their driving experience.
For example, if you have no brake pads left, or a faulty braking system, your safety is most definitely on the line. We will check into this for you and let you know step-by-step what you need to do.
We also understand that automobiles are very expensive, and so are any repairs. That is why we work with you and your budget, to make sure that you are getting the work done as soon as possible, while keeping your price point in mind.
We believe in spending quality time with you so that you do not leave feeling confused nor taken advantage of at any time.
Considering how much our tires go through on a daily basis, that is an area of maintenance that we should never dismiss or ignore. Taking into account all of the debris on the road, different weather conditions such as snow, ice, hot surfaces etc., that our vehicle goes through should all be considered. Although our vehicles and tires are designed to endure all of these differing road conditions; that does not mean that we should not take the absolute best care possible of our cars at all times.
Do different cars require different types of tires?
-Yes, the type of vehicle you have such as a sedan, truck, van, or SUV will determine the type and size tire that you will need.
Do all tires request the same amount of air pressure in them?
Nope, Different types of tires will require a slightly different psi (tire pressure). This is important to be aware of as your new vehicle and or set of tires may require an entirely different amount from your previous vehicle.
This information can typically be found in the owners manual, or in the inside of the driver’s side door.
If you are still unable to locate this information, feel free to stop by any one of our locations and we will let you know the appropriate amount of air pressure that you should be using.
Maintaining the appropriate amount of psi can add to the lifespans of your tires as well.
